Start a clothing brand

Start a clothing brand with a partner that designs and produces it.

You bring the idea. Marcel Studio builds the brand around it: a name and identity, a first collection developed and sourced, packaging, photography and a Shopify store ready to sell.

The process

How a founder project runs.

  1. 01

    Discover

We listen first: who the brand is for, what it stands for, and what the first collection or program should and should not include.

  2. 02

    Develop

Product development and sourcing for apparel, footwear, accessories and beauty. References, specifications and samples, approved before anything is made.

  3. 03

    Design

Identity, naming, labels, hangtags and packaging, drawn as one system, then photographed in a single flash-editorial look.

  4. 04

    Produce

Production is placed and followed. Artwork, colourways and branding are approved on a sample first.

  5. 05

    Launch

A Shopify store designed and built for the brand, with imagery, copy and wholesale ready on day one.

  6. 06

    Grow

Reorders, new drops and wholesale accounts, handled through the same studio and the same look.

What you get

A brand, not just a product.

Starting a clothing line usually means hiring five people who do not know each other. We replace that with one studio that does the work in the right order.

  • Identity firstA name, a mark and a voice that can hold a whole collection, not one product.
  • A first collection, kept smallA focused first range of apparel, footwear or accessories, specified, sourced and sampled, with the sample approved before anything is produced.
  • Packaging and labelsWoven labels, hangtags, boxes and tissue designed with the product.
  • Imagery that sells itCampaign photography in a single recognisable look.
  • A store that is readyA Shopify store designed and built for your brand, with wholesale ready when you are.

Our view

Why a first collection should be small.

Most first launches work best as one tight collection. A smaller range means better samples, clearer photography, less stock to carry and a sharper story.

We help you decide what to leave out. Your proposal sets out a first range, and the order in which to grow it.

  • Fewer pieces, finished properlyEvery piece sampled, approved and photographed.
  • A path to the second dropWhat to add next, and when.

The catalogue

Start from a piece that is already beautifully made.

A fast way to begin is a well-made blank carrying your name. Open any piece in the design tool to place your logo and choose a colourway.

Photographed blank on limestone. Your brand goes on labels, hangtags, packaging and artwork, approved on a sample first. Availability and minimums are confirmed in your proposal.

Tell us about your brand.

Where are you today: an idea, a name and some designs, or a brand without a store? We reply with how we would approach it.

  • Bring references, a mood or a sketch. You do not need a tech pack.
  • Sending this does not create an order or a commitment.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do I need designs or a tech pack?

No. Bring references, a mood board or a sketch. We develop the specifications and the samples with you.

How much does it cost to start a clothing brand with you?

It depends on what you are making and how much of the brand you want us to build. We scope every project individually and send a written proposal before anything is made.

Can I see a sample before production?

Yes. Branding, artwork and colourways are approved on a sample first.

Do you build the store as well?

Yes. We design and build the Shopify store and launch it with the brand.

Can you help with beauty as well as clothing?

Beauty is open by enquiry as founding-partner projects. See the private label skincare page.
